Lamberts – Vitamins, Herbs and Minerals

Supplements spilling out of a bottle.
Lamberts is a trusted supplement manufacturer with a reputation for quality. In our latest blog we explain why we recommend this brand and what we like about it.

When you take supplements, it is usually because you want to boost your vitamin intake, improve your sleep, or reduce fatigue.

But when you want to buy vitamin or mineral supplements, whether it’s magnesium, vitamin D or Co-Enzyme 10 the choice can be overwhelming. The variation in what they claim to do, the ingredients, dosage and price can leave you wondering what the differences are between one brand and another.

Here at the pharmacy, we recommend Lamberts, and there are some good reasons why we like this range.

Ingredients

Lamberts only selects pharmaceutical-grade ingredients, which are of a higher quality than those found in many cheap supplements. The ingredients are tested in the UK and include analysis for heavy metals and environmental toxins. This means each ingredient meets strict European quality standards.

The manufacturing and testing of Lamberts products take place in their UK factories. They have Pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification and are approved by the UK Department of Health and the Medicines Control Agency.

Dosage and Bioavailability

A supplement is only effective if the right amount of each ingredient is present in the formula. Lamberts tells us they base their formulas on the latest nutritional research. The active ingredient of each supplement is designed to provide easy absorption and high bioavailability.

Bioavailability is how much of a nutrient is absorbed by your body. For example, take two different vitamin supplement brands. They both have the same amount of vitamin C in the ingredients. But one has a higher bioavailability. This means your body will absorb more of the vitamin C than the other brand and so it will be more effective.

Clear Labelling

Another reason we like Lamberts supplements is that they provide clear labelling. You can clearly see each ingredient with the nutrient reference values (NRVs). These values are EU guidance levels.

They represent the daily amount of vitamins and minerals the average healthy person needs per day. For example, the EU recommendation for Vitamin E is 12mg per day and on the label for Multi-Guard ADR multivitamins, it is shown as 100%.

Some vitamins, such as vitamin D, have an EU recommendation of 5ug daily. But Lamberts have increased the amount of vitamin D from the EU recommendation to the UK NHS recommendation of 10 µg, and so this shows as a percentage of 200%.

You will notice some measurements are in MG and some in ug. Very simply, this means that nutrients we need in greater quantities are normally measured in milligrams (mg), and the nutrients we need in smaller amounts are in micrograms (µg)

Also outlined on their labels is a list of allergens, although most of their supplements are allergen-free.

Reputation

Lamberts is a trusted UK brand, both with healthcare companies and consumers. Customer feedback particularly highlights trust and efficacy. They also report excellent customer service and clear product information.

The company was founded in 1982 and has been developing nutritional supplements for over 40 years. It is now one of the UK’s leading supplement brands.
