The appointment will typically last 30 minutes to ensure we have enough time to go through our questionnaire and to perform the procedure.
Our address is 124 Frimley Road, Camberley, GU15 2QN.
Our pharmacy ear wax removal service is easily accessible from Camberley, Blackwater, Sandhurst, Frimley, Deepcut, Cove, Hawley, Mytchett, Crowthorne, Surrey Heath, Farnborough, Finchampstead, Ash Vale, Fleet, Bisley, Windlesham, Aldershot, Brookwood, Hartley Wintney, Sunninghill, Pirbright, Bagshot, Bracknell and many other locations in Surrey.
When you attend a microsuction appointment, our pharmacist will first go through a list of medical questions with you. This is to understand whether there are any medical reasons why microsuction might not be right for you.
The pharmacist will outline any risks to having the procedure performed before checking that you are happy to proceed.
The pharmacist will then have a look in your ears using an otoscope, which is a magnification tool with a light on it. This allows us to ensure the wax in your ears is soft enough to be removed using microsuction.
If the wax is soft, the pharmacist will gently insert the suction tube and probe into your ear to remove the wax. If the wax is too hard to remove, we will advise you to use wax softening drops such as olive oil or sodium bicarbonate before booking you in for a second appointment to remove the wax. Please ensure you speak to a healthcare professional before using wax softening drops.
Microsuction FAQs
Microsuction is the safest and most comfortable method of ear wax removal. A small, thin, wand-like tool is inserted into the ear, which is attached to a suction tube and a suction machine device, this then removes the wax gently.
Microsuction is one of the safest ways to remove wax from your ears. The process is painless, but it can be noisy but not a lot more than a hand dryer or vacuum cleaner. It can be a little uncomfortable.
Depending on the amount of wax in your ears, you might find that things sound a little different once the wax has been removed. You might also notice a small amount of ringing or buzzing in your ears, but this should settle down after a couple of hours.
In the majority of cases, ear wax removal by microsuction will remove 100% of the ear wax.
In some cases, only 90-95% of a blockage may be removed, but this would still be enough to fully or mostly restore hearing.
In very few cases, hearing may not be restored or wax may remain due to it being hard on the edges or deep inside on the ear drum where it can not safely be removed. In such cases, continued use of olive oil ear drops for another 5-7 days should loosen the last piece and it usually comes out on its own.
Microsuction is the considered much safer method than syringing from variety of reasons.
Ear syringing can lead to infections and drum perforations if done incorrectly. Microsuction is quicker, safer and more comfortable for the patient.

Ear Wax FAQs
Ear wax is a brown, orange or yellowish waxy substance secreted in the ear canal. It protects the skin of the ear canal, assists in cleaning and lubrication It provides protection against bacteria, fungi, and water.
Various factors can effect ear wax production, such as diet, genetics, ageing and anatomy. Production can be triggered by a new stimulus such as earplugs, hearing
aids, earphones or other protective equipment because they are inserted or cover the ear for long periods of time.
It could also simply be because we are all different, and some people produce more wax than others, so are prone to excess build-up. Other people may be at risk of build-up because they have naturally hard, dry
ear wax or narrow canals.
Naturally, your body cleans your ears for you so no routine maintenance is required.
However, if your body produces too much earwax, you may experience problems with your hearing. If this happens, it’s important to get it checked out right away to prevent further issues to your ear health.
Build-up of wax in your ear can cause discomfort, a feeling of fullness in the ear canal, balance issues, whistling or a buzzing sound and even hearing loss.
It’s quicker and easier nowadays to remove ear wax, thanks to the effectiveness of micro suctioning. In most cases, you can be hearing better and enjoying life symptom-free within an hour.
If excess ear wax is not removed, it can lead to a build-up of impacted ear wax. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms of impacted earwax, including ear pain, a ‘full ear’ or a cough, get in touch with us as soon as
possible.
