In this article, we’ll explore the importance of the COVID-19 vaccines, including the bivalent Omicron boosters, the regions where the virus is prevalent, and why our clinic is the best choice for your vaccination needs.
COVID-19 Vaccination: Key Facts
- Two updated COVID-19 booster vaccines are now available: Nuvaxovid XBB.1.5 (Novavax) and Comirnaty Omicron XBB.1.5 (Pfizer).
- These bivalent boosters target the original strain and the Omicron XBB.1.5 subvariant.
- The vaccines require two doses given at least one week apart to provide full protection.
- They are approved for individuals aged 12 years and over.
- While side effects like fever and soreness can occur, serious adverse reactions are rare.
- Following COVID-19 prevention measures like hand hygiene and mask-wearing is still crucial when travelling.
Understanding COVID-19
COVID-19 is a potentially severe respiratory illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It can lead to pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and other complications. COVID-19 is primarily transmitted through respiratory droplets and aerosols, making it a significant concern for travellers.
The Importance of COVID-19 Vaccines and Boosters
The COVID-19 vaccines and boosters are crucial tools in protecting travellers from this potentially devastating disease. By getting vaccinated or boosted, you can significantly reduce your risk of contracting COVID-19 while travelling to affected regions. The vaccines are especially important for individuals at higher risk, such as those with weakened immune systems or underlying health conditions.
When should I get vaccinated or boosted?
It’s recommended to complete the full vaccine series or booster dose at least one month before travelling to allow time for immunity to develop fully. Check the latest NHS guidance on COVID vaccine schedules and eligibility.
How long does immunity last?
The duration of protection provided by the COVID-19 vaccines is still being studied. Booster doses may be recommended periodically to maintain long-term immunity, as advised by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).
Regions with Increased Risk
While COVID-19 was a global pandemic, certain regions may have higher transmission rates or limited access to healthcare and vaccination programmes. Some areas with an increased risk include parts of Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Vaccinations FAQs
Currently we are using the Novavax.
From 18 years old.
Each vaccine is different and the pros and cons will be explained to you during the appointment. In most cases, the benefits of vaccination outweigh the risks. Compared with mRNA vaccines, the Novavax booster seems to have a lower risk of causing myocarditis or pericarditis—heart conditions that occasionally occur, especially in young men.
This is different from vaccine to vaccine and depends on a number of factor. For maximum immunity, completing the full course is recommended.
Pricing FAQs
The price per dose is available above. Please note that some vaccines require multiple courses which are also listed in the price list above. We advertise the price per dose as some customers may have received an initial dose previously and may only require the booster or one dose to complete the course.
